Cameron Hollyer
1926 - 2000
The Friends' own Cameron Hollyer, founding
curator
of the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection, passed "beyond the Reichenbach,"
after a short illness, on June 4, 2000 in his 74th year. Obituaries
appeared
in three of the major Toronto newspapers.
Cameron was an important part of this Friends
group from the very beginning
and he continued to contribute his knowledge and skills to the
Collection
after his retirement. His support for, and friendship with us
all
will be greatly missed.
In recognition of his lifelong passion for and
support of the arts,
literature and Sherlockiana, his family would appreciate any donations
be made in Cameron's name to:
The Toronto Public Library Foundation,
789 Yonge St.,
Toronto,
Ontario M4W 2G8.
You may indicate whether your donation is to be used for the Arthur
Conan
Doyle Collection or the literature collection.
In his memory, the Friends and the Toronto Public
Library have established
an annual memorial lecture.
Friends are very welcome to offer suggestions for
the development of
further recognitions for Cameron. In addition, any material
contributions
would be welcome. Please indicate your wishes in any specific
contributions to the Friends of the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection.
